Monday

This week we are talking about apples. We will be visiting an orchard on Friday, so we figured this would be an appropriate theme for the week. We are reading How To Make An Apple Pie and See The World. We are following some of the FIAR suggestions, but we are pretty much gonna do our own thing. SweetPea did do the 3 way matching I found
here where she had to match the country visited, with the mode of transportation used to get there, and the ingredient from that country. she did remarkably well, although she did have to use the book a little.
For math she used apples as manipulatives. After she finished, she got to eat one of the apples for a snack. We are sampling different varieties of apples this week for our project "An Apple A Day..". So far we have tried Gala apples and Ginger Gold . What a sneaky way to get this SweetPea to eat something healthy ;)
We finished up the day with art- she got to paint again! She was quite excited. She painted an apple orchard, complete with a child picking apples.
SweetPea's read aloud today was How Many Ways Can You Cut A Pie? It gave us a great opportunity to talk about fractions, which we will do more of the rest of the week.
